The Greenwood

The Greenwood School proudly presents a new series of family friendly live music concerts. Our concerts promise to offer a casual environment where children are welcome and their needs honored.
This series will present established and emerging acoustic musicians of many genres including folk, blues, country, blue-grass, Celtic, Americana, world-music and more. The concerts will be held at The Greenwood School, either indoors or out, depending on the weather. Guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages and snacks.
Upcoming Concert - Sunday, April 22, 2012
featuring:
Ken Gaines

Houston area singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer Ken Gaines has the goal of writing great songs in just about every genre and style. You won't be able to put a finger on what he does from sweet lyrical ballads, to double entendre blues, to swingin' jazz, and redneck rock. "For all of the great songs that have been written I belong to a wonderful group of people who believe there are at least as many great ones still to be written." His voice has the range to cover all of these styles and his supple guitar work lays down arrangements instead of just chords. His lyrics are both powerful and poetic and highlight his skills as a story teller and observer of life. In 2005 he was voted Singer Songwriter of the Year by the Academy of Texas Music and in 2007 his song was nominated Song of the Year and the Texas Music Awards. Ken Gaines is a solid songwriter and performer who has performed at some of the most prestigious acoustic music venues in the country, including numerous performances at the Kerrville Folk Festival. With the release of his "Real Men" and the recent "Catfish Moon" CDs, Ken has been propelled into the national spotlight as one of the finest examples of acoustic American singer/songwriters.
